Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) is a collegiate marketing club that I participated in during my two years at Butler Community College. I was President of the club delegating and directing club members during meetings and events. We had many fundraising activities to raise money for the members to attend competitions. We hosted many events including raffles, bake sales, coupon sales, and even had a local band concert! At competition a variety of events take place where you can compete with other students in DECA clubs around the United States. Competition events included anything related to business such as business management and advertising campaigns, business ethics, and role playing.

Being the President of the Butler DECA group taught me many things; I learned even more about leadership and how to motivate and communicate with club members. As a group we learned how to effectively reach our target market and raise funds.  Each member gained much knowledge during competitions as they were competing against other DECA members and rated by professional judges.
